ACT ONE - A SHARP REMINDER.
Cigarettes and alcohol. A smell that was once offputting to many, yet has now melted into everyday life, without as much as a warning.
The room, filled with smoke, a portal to what once was. Decor akin to an old tavern, something that seems so distant from reality, as if fiction written into the history books to make the mind run wild, yet it were not so.
What few windows were visible were high up and small, as if trying to hide away from stray eyes, to keep you in the past, distract you from the neon reality that awaited outside.
" One more. "
A calm voice rang out among the wild shouts of other regulars, the smoke in front of her mouth, now disturbed and dancing around in the stale air.
Her hand, letting go of a now empty glass, a sigh would follow those words. She'd already talked her heart out earlier, yet her soul weighed ever as heavy, just as it were last time she was here.
The new glass, now set in front of her, eyes would adjust themselves onto it, and yet, as she attempted to lift what was a completely ordinary drink, it felt as if she was trying to carry a whole megabuilding in one hand. She just couldn't do it.
" I . . . nevermind . . . I'll just get going, you can give the drink to someone else. My treat. "
She'd then stand up, her body, although feeling heavier than usual, moving ever as quickly, as if she had to rush somewhere, and yet she had nowhere to be, nowhere to go.
And with a worried expression and a wave, the man behind the counter said his farewells.
" Don't worry, I'll be back to give you more money. "
A laugh, and a smile, clearly awry, anyone who knew her would be able to tell she's just trying to distract from the issue, she wasn't one to order a drink and just forget about it that quickly.
And yet, off she went, waves from familiar faces, blurred in with all the other motion around herself, vision betraying her despite not being intoxicated more than usual, something was clearly wrong, so a breath of fresh air was her solution - or at least air as fresh as it can be in Night City.
Opening the back door and making her way outside, she'd take a deep breath, looking around herself but seeing none of the usual suspects that would hang around here, yet another oddity today, but nothing too surprising.
Taking a step to the right, she'd begin walking over to where she had parked her bike, and yet the air around her began getting heavier and heavier, her body tempature rising, she'd realize that today wasn't just another oddity in an otherwise dull cycle, it was so much more than that.
Cyberware activating instincively, Nobunaga would move as quickly as her body allowed her to, narrowly dodging a blade from the shadows, aimed straight for her heart.
"裏切り者!"
" Traitor! "

The words echoed through the alley, a familiar voice, but she could not remember who it belonged to in her current state.
Adrenalline rushing, Nobunaga would be met with another strike, this time blocked by mantis blades, she would step back, cyberware once again activating, she'd move as if within the blink of an eye, and as quickly as she had backed off, she would leap onto a nearby wall, her attacker, carefully paying attention to her movement, yet unable to match it. Their tech was leagues apart.
Gun now drawn by her opponent, they would unload as many bullets as they could in an attempt to get her off the wall, and yet, by the time they had pulled the trigger, a storm of bullets would fly their way as well, ripping into their flesh before they could react to the fact that their target had once again moved. Despite the shots fired being from a handgun, they came at incredible speeds, no doubt due to the difference in cyberware.
And now, just as Nobunaga was about to strike them down, their own blade would catch one of her arms, as her mantis blades put a swift end to the attacker.
Deep breaths, as the adrenalline slowly wore off, and her cyberware deactivated, allowing the crimson to flow down her blade and her arm. It was in that moment that she realized, this was no ordinary attacker. It was someone who knew her well, and they knew exactly what they were getting themselves into. The cut they managed to inflict on her was a prediction, planned from the very moment that they pulled the trigger on their weapon, and yet they simply did not have the time to aim it perfectly.
Were their cyberware equal, Nobunaga would have stood no chance in her current state, much like she likely would not have made it out were she to have decided to stay and drink just a little bit more.
" くそ . . . "
"Fuck . . . "

Her heart, still racing, she would retract her mantis blades, allowing the now lifeless attacker to fall to the ground, blood rushing out of the holes dug by her bullets.
Her eyes, trying to fixate onto the body below her, she'd bend her knees, allowing herself to reach down and take off the mask that obscured their features. And just like that, within an instant, regret filled her mind, pressure building up in her head, as her eyes felt like they were trying to escape her skull.
A sharp reminder of her past. And the realization that she was no longer safe. No longer hidden. This was the beginning, to something she knew well was inevitable.
Memories, flowing once again, like a river.A river of filth and blood. An image, oh so painfully clear.
